What a fantastic venue to hold a wedding ceremony! The Edinburgh Chambers is an impressive building with quite possibly the most stunning views of Edinburgh.
I was lucky enough to conduct my second marriage ceremony in our Capital’s City Chambers back in October 2011, and as a recently qualified Marriage Officer, I was a little nervous before I arrived!
Although, once I entered the Lothian Chambers, where the ceremony was to take place, my fears were soon replaced with a real sense of calm. The Lothian Chambers room is splendid, elegant yet simple.
As well as housing a gorgeous ornate central staircase there is a very beautiful hallway and balcony. The acoustics in the Chamber are fantastic, which allowed me to project my voice easily; it is spacious with a comfortable temperature.
And of course the views overlooking Edinburgh are breathtaking, even on a cloudy day!
I found the events team to be very friendly, professional and happy to help and accommodate the couple and their guests’ wishes.
I thoroughly enjoyed conducting the ceremony and solemnising the marriage, which was a relaxed, light hearted and at the same time romantic and dignified affair with just the right blend of such essential elements.
I could tell that the guests were just as impressed as I was with the City Chambers and that everyone felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the day. It is such an honour to be able to compose and conduct such personal ceremonies for couples, but equally, being able to spend time in the most amazing venues in Scotland is also a real honour.
I hope to be able to repeat the experience in the future with more couples; it’s always a pleasure to spend the day in our fine Capital.
