In June last year, I was over the moon to conduct the wedding ceremony for my younger brother and his lovely fiancée, at the Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon.

It was a real family affair; my wonderful daughter was one of the bridesmaids and my wonderful Mum made the amazing wedding cake.

I’ll admit I was more nervous than usual, as it’s always more difficult to conduct a ceremony in front of family and friends than it is in front of strangers! But this did not detract away from the fact that I was able to declare my brother and his fiancée to be ‘Husband and Wife’ a moment I will remember as one of my proudest, for the rest of my days.

Although my brother was pretty nervous before the ceremony, as many grooms are, he was fine once we got going. The beautiful bride on the other hand was full of smiles and excitement and grinned all the way through the ceremony. It was a truly special moment for us all and we all had an amazing time at the reception.  I think we actually wore a hole in the dance floor!

Having had the privilege to conduct ceremonies in many different venues all over Scotland, this was my first visit to the lovely Lochgreen House Hotel and I must say that I was suitably impressed! The Hotel and gardens are immaculate. The rooms are stunning, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive and the food was delicious.

Of course, the Scottish summers are famously unpredictable, and the lead up to the wedding had been pretty miserable. Even on the morning of the wedding, trying to make it to and from the hairdresser in one piece was a challenge, so it was a pleasant surprise that as soon as the ceremony came to an end, the elusive sun made an appearance and stayed with us for the rest of the day, allowing us to get some wonderful photos in the gardens.

I will never forget this unique experience and I’m thrilled to welcome my new sister in law in to the family.
