Have you thought about a theme for your wedding?
Every wedding will have some kind of theme, even if it’s just a specific colour. If you are getting married and looking to have a theme we have so many ideas to get you started.
1920’s, Lace, Floral, Country Garden, Beach, Vintage, Classic, Festival, DIY, Hollywood, Travel, Boat, Sparkle, Black and White, British, Doctor Who, Sports, Rustic, Seaside, Casino, Quirky, Carnival, Pirate…should we stop yet?
Here are the top themes we love working with:
Beach Wedding Theme
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…imagine getting married on a beach? Tying the knot on a beach screams romantic and you don’t have to go abroad to do it. Our celebrants have had the pleasure of conducting numerous Humanist Marriage ceremonies on some of Scotland’s most beautiful beaches.
Boat Wedding Theme
Another one for those who are fans of the ocean. Imagine getting married on a boat? As you sail, you’ll no doubt take in breathtaking views of the Scottish surroundings. Being on a boat allows you and your wedding party total exclusivity. You can have your very own private party aboard with no interruptions, although you might have to limit the guest list. You might also want to make sure no one in the wedding party is prone to getting sea sick. Your theme could be ‘nautical’ and we have found some fantastic ideas on pinterest that would be perfect.
Casino Wedding Theme
Can you and your partner be found in a casino until the small wee hours? Why not have a casino themed wedding or you could even go all out and get married in a real life casino. Whether it’s a James Bond, Gatsby or Vegas style day we think this theme would definitely have your wedding celebrations continuing into the night.
Festival Wedding Theme
Are you a music lover? Festival-like weddings tend to be relaxed and simple and often show a very creative and personal side to the couple. From the location, attire, ceremony and reception you have the opportunity to make it your own. Festival style weddings are becoming increasingly popular and we think it’s just the perfect way to showcase your individuality.
DIY Wedding Theme
Our all time favourite theme right now? DIY. Do it yourself allows you so much freedom when planning your wedding. There are no rules to what you can and can’t have. Pick a venue that has a blank canvas, perhaps a village hall, an attic space or a back garden and the rest is up to you. This is one that will require some planning though and we advise checking out pinterest for some ideas to get you started. If you’re having a laid-back hen do why not rope the girls into making something for your big day? We can already picture the wood hand painted signage, mason jars, the flowers in your hair, rustic lanterns and the home comforts of the catering.
What we’re trying to say is, it’s your wedding and you and your partner should pick a theme that reflects you both. This is a chance to throw a big party the way you want it so be as imaginative as you want.
And yes, in Scotland this is all entirely possible and legal.
