To help couples plan and then manage the biggest and happiest day of their lives is very satisfactory. Knowing that I am helping them set off on the next part of their journey through life together fills me with immense pleasure. The unique and individual wishes of the happy couple is paramount and I look forward to meeting and marrying couples in many of the vast choice of venues and locations in the Highlands and Western Isles.
Billy, is originally from Coatbridge but now lives in Fort William.
Having trained initially as a chef, Billy moved on to front of house duties in hotels eventually becoming a hotel manager in 1990. His duties here brought him in direct contact with many couples getting married and at that time being involved in the meal and evening part of the wedding day, a role which he relished. After this he has held a variety of roles including retail management where again his customer service skills were further developed.
Training to be a Humanist Celebrant with The Fuze Foundation is a natural progression for him as it has always been evident he enjoys working closely with clients and help them achieve the same goal: complete customer satisfaction
Billy says: “Being a celebrant with Fuze is all I expected it to be and more. The thrill of working with couples to plan their big day, the joy of composing ceremonies for baby namings and even preparing personal tributes for a funeral is such a rewarding and enjoyable process.
Each couple I have worked with, have had such a wide spectrum of ideas for their ceremonies, it has made my job so much more enjoyable.
From one couple who wanted a short informal ceremony, to another couple who had an actresses doing their readings. It is amazing how many different ideas couples have for their big day.
The one thing that has followed all the way through is the sheer joy, not only the couples experience, but all the assembled guests, the musicians and last but not least me.
The baby naming ceremonies I have conducted have all been so heart-warming and happy occasions.
I feel after many years, I have finally found my ideal job.”
Billy will happily travel to conduct ceremonies anywhere; from Campbeltown to Shetland and all places in between, including the Inner and Outer Hebrides.
